I think PeerTube can do livestreaming like Twitch as well.
Any benefit to Owncast? First time seeing it.
OwnCast is dedicated to livestreaming and has better chat support. The user experience is a lot closer to something like Twitch. You can try it out for example here: https://live.retrostrange.com
You can use Fediverse accounts like Mastodon to verify your identity on OwnCast.
PeerTube has no official chat (yet), but they do have a chat plugin.
There's also a directory of livestreams for OwnCast at https://directory.owncast.online
I'll be looking into it then because I've been looking to start livestreaming, and I'd prefer investing my time in the Fediverse.
Thanks for the info!
Glad to help, good luck with the streaming!
@FediFollows @thefrankring Hi,
Can you elaborate on the "better chat support"? What is missing in peertube chat plugin? :)
@FediFollows Maybe if you have a plan to add Snac here?
Could you explain a bit more?
I'm trying to list Fediverse accounts, as far as I know that project doesn't have an account?
@FediFollows
Let me please assume grunfink uses his account mostly for the project-related matters
