Are you using Mastodon on a computer? If so, you might want to try out Mastodon's "Advanced Web Interface". It has a multicolumn layout similar to TweetDeck, and is built into all Mastodon servers:

This guide tells you how to activate and use it, as well as answers to lots of common questions about it.

Some people find multicolumn mode essential, while others find it overwhelming. You can use whichever interface you prefer 🙂

@FediTips I only use the advanced web interface when I'm on my PC or Tablet. I can't imagine ever using the default.

@FediTips No thx and yes I use the computer version of mastodon! It's extremely accessible and so I'll use it until it naturally breaks!

@FediTips Used to always have this advanced interface, but the CSS and styles changes in v4.3.x mean that it's larger than it previously was, and dont fit on my screen anymore (always have the horizontal slider moving depending where you click).
I do think, it's bc at least the "Getting Started" column is fixed width and too wide.

@cybeardjm @FediTips The Advanced Web Interface is essential to me, but yep, I continue to bemoan having to put up with the completely unnecessary and infuriating #MastodonShuffle on my Macbook Air since new CSS was introduced. I'm astounded it's just been left this way after so many months.

@AdamStuartSmith @FediTips IMHO, it's because in th basic advanced view, the block that contains the "about" part of your instance, moves from the posting colum to the "Getting started" one and the (constrained?) width of both is different.
In your case, the columns' respective width look to be the culprit.

There are probably CSS tweaks that could be used, but I don't feel injecting styles via the dev console all the time...

@FediTips I use @phanpy a progressive web app (that works great on smartphones) with optional multicolumn view and other innovative features. Highly recommended... If your instance supports it!

@FediTips And if you throw the "Pachydermatologist" add on into your browser, you can fiddle with the column width to make the "advanced" interface actually useful!
