If you want to create a thread on Mastodon or other Fediverse platforms:
1. Publish the first part of the thread as a post
2. Reply to your post with the second part
3. Reply to your previous reply with the third part etc.

Some mark their threads with a symbol and/or number the thread "1/5" or "1/X" so people can keep track of which page they are on.
To see the thread that a post comes from, just click on the post.
When I create a thread, I always reply to the first post with every reply.
So I (and especially the readers) have the entire thread together in one view.
When I reply to the following post, the post and one answer are displayed. To read the thread you have to click again and again.
I don't think so?
That would make threads difficult to view for most people?
If you're replying directly to the first post with each reply, anyone clicking on a reply will have most of the thread hidden.
"When I reply to the following post, the post and one answer are displayed. "
What are you using to view Mastodon?
For example I created this thread by chaining together a series of replies:
https://social.growyourown.services/@FediFollows/113261775076842449
It displays in full for me, does it not display in full for you?
You're not the first person to suggest this!
I am wondering if there is (or was?) a bug on some app somewhere which causes/caused problems on threads, and replying to the first post was a workaround for that bug?
@FediTips Yes, maybe.I'm pretty sure, I once saw, when I clicked on a reply, in the middle of a thread, only seeing that post and a reply.
Thank you for the clarification.
Good night (in Germany it is 10 pm).
An example:
I really like this view:
https://norden.social/@csickendieck/113175631845456977
All informations in one view.
It would all be in one view if you replied to replies, there's no need to reply to the original post.
Additionally, if someone clicks on a post in a thread where you've replied to the original post only, it cuts out all of the other posts in the thread. I've attached an example where I clicked on the third post and it cut out the second post.
